SGR Policy on sources of funding

SGR only accepts financial support from organisations whose activities are consistent with our values and aims, ie contribute to peace, social justice, and environmental sustainability. (These values and aims are specified in full in our constitution).

In particular, we do not accept any funding from:

• the military, e.g., armed forces, government defence ministries, military corporations
• large privately-owned corporations involved in the controversial use of science and technology, e.g., fossil fuel/ chemical/ other unsustainable resource extraction or use; nuclear power; biotechnology

SGR is open about all sources of funding, which are specified in detail in our annual reports.

SGR depends on membership subscriptions and donations for its basic running costs. In the last five years we have also successfully applied to the following organisations (in alphabetical order) for funding for particular projects:

• INES Special Projects Fund
• Network for Social Change
• Polden Puckham Charitable Foundation
• Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust
• The Martin Ryle Trust
• The Science and Society Trust
• Scurrah Wainwright Charity
