Assistant Director - Scientists for Global Responsibility

40% full-time equivalent (15 hours/week); £28,485 [SCP 32] pro rata

24 months initially, with possibility of extension

Scientists for Global Responsibility (SGR) is seeking an Assistant Director, a newly created post within its Lancaster-based team.

SGR is a small but influential research and campaign organisation that promotes science, design and technology that contribute to peace, social justice, and environmental sustainability. It has a membership of about 750, mainly natural scientists, social scientists, and engineers.

We are seeking an individual to assist the organisation’s Executive Director, Stuart Parkinson. The main tasks of this role have a communications focus, and will include maintaining SGR’s website, managing its social media, building relationships with journalists, helping compile the organisation’s newsletter, membership recruitment and promoting SGR’s activities more generally. The work pattern would be negotiable.

SGR is based at Halton Mill, an eco-renovated office space near Lancaster (part of the award-winning Lancaster Cohousing project). Remote working would be considered.
