Scientists for Global Responsibility (SGR) is seeking a campaigner to work with its Lancaster-based team.

SGR is a small, but influential, research and campaign organisation which promotes responsible science and technology. We have a particular focus on work that contributes to peace, social justice, and environmental sustainability. We have a membership of about 700, mainly natural scientists, social scientists, and engineers.

This campaign post has a twin focus. One element is to encourage scientists to take more public facing action – through speaking out more on the scale of the climate threat, and/or setting an example through sustainable lifestyle changes. The other element is to challenge the financial links between the fossil fuel and arms industries on one hand, and professional science and engineering bodies on the other. A key aspect of the post will be to develop relationships with scientists and engineers, to encourage and support them in taking action. The work pattern would be negotiable.

Remote working would be considered – especially during the current Covid-19 crisis.
