Accelerating global heating has seen a summer of lethal wildfires and climate-related disasters, but heavily polluting fossil fuel companies are promoting themselves like never before with a record number of contracts with advertising agencies. At the same time there are attacks on climate science coming both from governments and politically motivated players. These attacks are part of a wider campaign against science-based decision-making. What is the scale of this threat and how are others pushing back against official disinformation, dangerous silences, spin and corporate greenwash?
