SGR seeks a new Executive Director
Hours: 40% full-time equivalent (15 hours/week); permanent
Salary: £42,123 pro-rata, plus home-working allowance (and London weighting if applicable)
For over 30 years, Scientists for Global Responsibility has played a unique role promoting science and technology which contribute to peace, social justice, and environmental sustainability. Our work involves research, education, and advocacy.
We are now seeking a new Executive Director to lead the organisation into an exciting new phase of activity, building on our already extensive body of work.
The successful candidate will work constructively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds to propose and deliver work programmes which take forward SGR’s agenda, especially in areas such as climate change, militarism, and science and technology policy.
They will be SGR’s public face in the media, with members, and with other stakeholders. They will be highly motivated and organised. They will widen the funding base of SGR, including grant-making bodies, members, and supporters.
SGR’s role is as vital as ever, so we are looking for a person with the skills and vision to increase our impact in the coming years.
SGR is a remote-working organisation, based in the UK, and the successful applicant must also be based in the UK.
The work pattern would be negotiable. The basic role is 15 hours per week, but there will be opportunities to expand the hours if fundraising efforts are successful. The role is permanent, although subject to a probation period of six months.
